Welcome
I was lucky to have a father who was a keen photographer and had his own darkroom under the stairs at home. From about 10 years old I could develop film and print my own black and white prints at postcard size, and later on I used E6 to develop colour slides - all this was possible because dad brought film in bulk and loaded his own cassettes.
I had my own Russian 35mm camera when I was about 15. I cannot remember or find any negatives or prints from this time. Once I started work and had some money to spend I purchased an Olympus half frame camera. Later on with a wife and children to photograph I purchased a Pentax SLR and after that an Olympus OM1 with a couple of lenses. For about ten years I had access to a professional dark room, so it was a dream that I could pursue photography as my career. Then I started a stained glass business which was completely time consuming and I didn’t take another picture for 20 years. Then I discovered the wonders of digital photography and I am smitten again.
Even though I have a DSLR most of my pictures are taken with a small compact which I have with me at all times. I like to take candid and street photography and this small camera gives me the option to move in close to my subjects and be unobserved. Beaches, seascapes, textures and buildings are included in the many aspects of my interest.
I hope you enjoy looking at my website -I will try but not promise to change the images from time to time. deancullum@hotmail.co.uk
